[ It's Rin Here ]

 g o o d b y e

First of all, the only reason I liked you was because you had this shit awesome holiday called Halloween. I seriously don't know if there is another reason to like you... Okay, sure, maybe for the candy corn and all the cute and beautiful tiny pumpkins that are everywhere!

Not really looking forward to November. Why do you ask? I have a violin recital in November *cries*. I absolutely hate recitals. It is mainly the fact that a lot of people are staring at me all at once and looking for every single mistake that I make, but also, because there are so many other students who are way better than me. It just freaks me the hell out. To make things worse, I also happen to have a Taekwondo competition. UGH! Kill me now!

But, since we have Thanksgiving break in November I have time to draft a billion posts (yay)! And I actually have time to read (double yay)!

watched?
Three fabulous movies (if you count the documentary that I had to watch for school). The Martian (hilarious and overall an awesome movie), The Babadook (this is how we celebrate Halloween, we get to gather, find a scary movie, and scare the heck out of each other, but this movie wasn't all that scary at all), and He Named Me Malala. It was actually pretty good.

any events?
I never posted it on here, but on October 9, 2015, Kaitlin and I (yes, correct grammar) went to a Leigh Bardugo signing for her new book Six of Crows in San Francisco! It was overall fun and enjoyable + I met Helen (who is awesome) and said hi to Genissa.

Any pics? A few. Like a few few. Meaning one.

instagram updates?
By this point, I realize without hesitation that I am bad at taking photos. Bad at taking photos in general and bad at taking bookish photos. New goal for the year. Try not to make you photos look like they have been put through 3 layers of editing and a gazillion minutes to position (even if it was put through 3 layers of editing and took a gazillion minutes to position). *Cringes at all the filtering on the left*

Review: Day 21 (The 100 #2) by Kass Morgan

title: Day 21 (The 100 #2)
author: Kass Morgan
publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
pages: 320
genre: Young Adult | Science Fiction | Dystopia | Romance

publication date: 16 September 2014
more: Goodreads

No one has set foot on Earth in centuries -- until now.

It's been 21 days since the hundred landed on Earth. They're the only humans to set foot on the planet in centuries...or so they thought. Facing an unknown enemy, Wells attempts to keep the group together. Clarke strikes out for Mount Weather, in search of other Colonists, while Bellamy is determined to rescue his sister, no matter the cost. And back on the ship, Glass faces an unthinkable choice between the love of her life and life itself.

In this pulse-pounding sequel to Kass Morgan's The 100, secrets are revealed, beliefs are challenged, and relationships are tested. And the hundred will struggle to survive the only way they can -- together.

I was really looking forward to reading this book and overall just having it in my hands after I gave in and bought Day 21 and Homecoming (even though I was on a No-buy till whenever I feel less guilty) after reading The 100. Review right here. I knew for sure that I enjoyed The 100, but reading Day 21 was even better. Sure, it still wasn't what I expected it to be, but I was surprised. Surprised.

I know that The 100 series has been sort of a controversial book, due to the fact that there is a show that barely covers the original plot while it is also under the weight of people who enjoyed the book and people who did not. The book was enjoyable, but it was not spectacular or life changing. The writing was a bit off-putting and the credibility a bit low, but nonetheless, I still enjoyed the book.

This book did not disappoint or hurt my view on the series. I enjoyed it just as much and even a bit more than the first book. I still loved the characters and the different points of view that I was reading from. After the revelation that they were not the only human beings living on earth, the group also finds out that despite their good intentions to finally come back to Earth, they may not be treated in that manner. After a death in the camp, they interact with one of the Earth Borns and in the process try to save their lives and the lives of those who are really in danger.

Day 21 was centered on love, family, and hard topic of survival in a new world and there were many different occurrences that were all enjoyable. Glass with her self bravery and confidence in her love for Luke and her family leads her to risk what she knew she would have always risked for the people that she loves.

I wasn't very keen on Luke. He knew exactly what Glass has gone through when she was in prisoned and his emotions and actions were lacking in the sense that he should have has a bigger reactions, he should have done a lot of things, because they involved him. There should have been a really loud fire alarm going off in his head and heart, but there wasn't. And that bugged me.

It had it's ups and downs, but Day 21 will reveal the long lost secrets that the show never spoke about and the secrets you never even stopped to consider were truths. Once this series is in your system your final life story will be:

Dead-Jed-Cover
Dead Jed is Shaun of the Dead meets Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Jed's not your typical junior high geek. He is, to use the politically-correct term, cardiovascularly-challenged. And while his parents have attempted to shield him from the implications of being 'different' for as long as they could (Jed was 8 and at a friend's sister's birthday party when he blew his lips off onto the cake in front of everyone, finally prompting the “Big Talk” from his parents and an emergency SuperGlue repair by his dad), 7th grade at Pine Hollow Middle School as a target of Robbie the supreme school bully and his pack of moronic toadies is rapidly becoming unbearable.
From being stuffed in a filled trash can as “dead meat” and into a trophy case as the bully's “prize,” to literally having his hand pulled off in the boys' room (Jed's always losing body parts. Luckily, a good stapler and some duct tape and he's back in the action) and a cigarette put in it and try to frame him for the recent reports of smoking in the school, Jed's had enough and is ready to plan his revenge. Besides, it's awesome what you can do when you're already dead!

Dead-Jed-2-Cover
The first part of seventh grade was rough on Jed, but things are looking up now that Christmas is almost here. As with past Christmases, Jed asks for the one thing he’s always wanted–a dog–and again, his parents tell him they’re not ready. But fate has a different plan when Jed sees a dog get run over by a car. Then, it happens. Jed suddenly has a pet, Tread, a zombie dog bearing his namesake–a tire tread down his back. Jed may have gained a dog, but he loses his best friend Luke, who fears the way Jed created his undead pet.
When Jed returns to school, he finds a mysterious group called the No Zombies Now Network spreading rumors of the dangers the undead pose to normal people. Forced to disprove Hollywood stereotypes, Jed has his work cut out for him as stories of a zombie dog begin to circulate. Jed could be expelled if he can’t expose the NZN Network as a fraud. Jed needs help from his kind of girlfriend Anna, especially after he discovers Luke has joined the shadowy group.
Once again navigating the treacherous waters of middle school, Jed does his best to stay in one piece. Only this time he’ll need even more duct tape and staples than usual.

Then, one day, she found everything she’s been looking for: a passion for the written word and true love. Writing not only enabled her to open her heart, it led her to southwestern France, where she’s now married to a sexy French rocket scientist she met over twenty years ago, a stepmom to two incredible kids, and the adoptive mother to one ridiculously expensive Bengal cat. When she’s not trekking from Provence to the Pyrénées, tasting wine in American-sized glasses, or embracing her inner Julia Child while deliberating what constitutes the perfect boeuf bourguignon, Samantha is making her best effort to relearn those dreaded conjugations.

I started this feature loving the fact that things are just so damn beautiful. I can't get enough of anything. Putting them all together just makes me really happy! This is a feature that I will not do that often, and is not related to books. We all have to get outside the box and out there from time to time!

WHO KILLED GRETCHEN MEYER?

Fear grips the residents of Hidden Falls the night Sonia Feldman and her best friend, Gretchen Meyer, are attacked in the woods. Sonia was lucky to escape with her life, but Gretchen’s body is discovered at the bottom of a waterfall. Beautiful, popular, and seemingly untouchable, Gretchen can’t be gone. Even as Sonia struggles with guilt and confusion over having survived, the whole town is looking to her for information…could she have seen something that will lead the police to the killer?

At the top of the list of suspects is Gretchen’s ex-boyfriend—and Sonia’s longtime enemy—Marcus Perez. So when Marcus comes to Sonia for help clearing his name, she agrees, hoping to find evidence the police need to prove he’s the killer. But as Gretchen’s many secrets emerge and the suspects add up, Sonia feels less sure of Marcus’s involvement, and more afraid for herself. Could Marcus, the artist, the screwup, the boy she might be falling for have attacked her? Killed her best friend? And if it wasn’t him in the woods that night…who could it have been?

I'm ready to put my detective hat on and try to solve this murder with the book. I'm hoping that I'll learn a few things and be shocked a few times. Who is it? Because I want to know for sure. Everything is interesting, everything is and might be worthy of my love. The cover is beautiful and would look perfect on my shelf (pssst, can you hear me book? Yeah, I'm talking to you!).
