Monthly Endings November 2015: Fails & Other Things

Monday, November 30, 2015

[ It's Rin Here! ]
au revoir, november!
Rin -
We ended the last Monthly Endings October by saying that I would be able to get so many things done, because a) Thanksgiving Break b) It's a new month, anything can happen. It's the ending of November and all I could think about is:
(Gif is Borrowed from the Web)
I HATE November with a passion. I didn't get any reading done, I had too much work to do just piling over the top and tipping over my nonexistent boat. I was behind on everything and I was stressed and stressed and stressed! Do I have to say that again?

If you had enough of my ramblings, welcome to November monthly ending in which we yell and scream at the month that is named November :p

For over a century, Morlet has been annihilating the Order, picking them off one by one. Eleven Krigers have been hunted down, tortured, and imprisoned in his dungeon. Now, only one remains.
Sixteen-year-old Kaia survives by keeping her head down and minding her own business. But when she finds herself in the middle of a public execution where the mysterious Morlet is in attendance, an odd compulsion she can’t resist comes over her.
Kaia looks into Morlet’s eyes.
Soon, an ancient power awakens and Kaia can no more blend into the scenery. Will she heed the call of the Krigers or will Morlet’s dark magic destroy the last of the Order?

In Real Life by Jessica Love
publisher: St. Martin's Press
pages: 240
genre: Young Adult | Contemporary | Romance

Hannah Cho and Nick Cooper have been best friends since 8th grade. They talk for hours on the phone, regularly shower each other with presents, and know everything there is to know about one another.

There's just one problem: Hannah and Nick have never actually met.

Hannah has spent her entire life doing what she's supposed to, but when her senior year spring break plans get ruined by a rule-breaker, she decides to break a rule or two herself. She impulsively decides to road trip to Las Vegas, her older sister and BFF in tow, to surprise Nick and finally declare her more-than-friend feelings for him.

Hannah's surprise romantic gesture backfires when she gets to Vegas and finds out that Nick has been keeping some major secrets. Hannah knows the real Nick can't be that different from the online Nick she knows and loves, but now she only has night in Sin City to figure out what her feelings for Nick really are, all while discovering how life can change when you break the rules every now and then.
why am I waiting?
I've always loved books where you don't exactly know what is happening. Books that made you wonder, how is this going to end? What do they mean? I by all means, love the books that make me think of breaking rules (because breaking rules is a cool thing to think about [let's hope my mom never reads this]). I like the idea of them never meeting and how Hannah finds out that Nick has been keeping major secrets (on with the secrets, let's hope they don't break my heart). I'm always open to looking for a book that is different and unique. I'll stand by this one until is comes out :)

Waiting on Wednesday #17: Truthwitch

Wednesday, November 18, 2015
[ It's Al Here! ]
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme created and hosted by Breaking the Spine.
title: Truthwitch
author: Susan Dennard
publisher: Tor Teen
pages: 416
genre: Young Adult | Fantasy | Paranormal

expected publication: 5 January 2016

find on: GoodreadsAmazon

On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.

Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.

Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.

Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.
I am waiting for this book because after reading the synopsis I thought it was interesting. I like to read fantasy books and I also like reading about mythical things. I really think that I would like this book and that is why I am waiting for it. I've also never recalled that I have ever read a book about witches so it would be an interesting book to read.

Sharing, sharing, sharing. I don't do this type of post regularly, but when I do do it, I try to make them as beautiful as possible, because It's really fun editing all these photos :) I'm still trying to figure out a pattern on how often I post this. Twice a month? Once a month?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm in one of those reading dilemmas where everything is going horribly wrong. I've only read two books this month, I'm behind on everything, and there is a chance I might fail my history project. The Rose Society is SO GOOD. I GIVE IT SO MUCH LOVE!

Knowing me (Rin) and the fact that I watch way too much tv to actually say that I am using my time wisely, I decided to add two more shows to my endless list of Netflix fever (OMG WHY?). Everyone say hello to Fear the Walking Dead, a spinoff of the kickass show The Walking Dead, and Scream Queens, which is one of the best shows I've ever decided to watch (and it's so funny)!

Welcome to this week’s M9B Friday Reveal!
This week, we are featuring
Krystalyn Drown
author of Tracy Tam: Santa Command, a Tantrum Books Title!

Be sure to enter the giveaway found at the end of the post!

Krystalyn Drown
Krystalyn spent thirteen years working at Walt Disney World in a variety of roles: entertainer, talent coordinator, and character captain. Her degree in theatre as well as many, many hours spent in a dance studio, helped with her job there. Her various other day jobs have included working in zoology at Sea World, as an elementary teacher, and currently as a support technician for a website. In the evenings, she does mad writing challenges with her sister, who is also an author. Krystalyn lives near Orlando, Florida with her husband, son, a were cat, and a Yorkie with a Napoleon complex.

When I was a child, my Christmas traditions were pretty simple. I would get up and open my presents. Then, I would have Christmas dinner (always turkey, green beans, dressing, cranberry sauce shaped like a can, and the most amazing homemade rolls you could ever taste) with my mom’s side of the family.

After dinner, my dad’s parents would come get me. I would go over to their house and repeat. Presents, dinner, and spending the night with my cousin giggling under the covers as we did our best to stay awake as long as possible.

As I grew older, our families were separated by distance, so those traditions gradually faded away.
As an adult, I have made my own traditions with my husband and my son. Whether we celebrate at home in Florida or with family in Indiana, we have some things that are always the same.
Our Elf on the Shelf, Elfie, does his best to win Cutest Elf of the Year.

We wear matching pajamas.

And we make amazing memories with our family. Because no matter how traditions change, all that really matters is the time we spend with those we care about. A night spent playing board games or a drive to look at Christmas lights can create memories that last forever.
Although, I do have one tradition that always stays the same. I still have to have my cranberry sauce shaped like a can.

Tracy-Tam-Cover
Tracy doesn’t believe that Santa can deliver all of those presents in one night with out a little help from science. A flying sleigh can only be powered by jet engines, and Santa’s magical abilities can only be the result of altered DNA. In order to test her theories, she sneaks onto Santa’s sleigh and ends up at Santa Command, the place where a team of humans monitors Santa’s big night. When Tracy attempts to hack into their computers, she accidentally introduces a virus to their system. As a result, three states get knocked out of sync with the rest of the world. Before the night is over, Tracy has to fix time and help Santa finish his deliveries. And she has to do it all with Santa’s magic, which she doesn’t believe exists.

Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy...

Archie and Veronica...

Althena and Noth...

...Graham and Roxy? Graham met his best friend, Roxana, when he moved into her neighborhood eight years ago, and she asked him which Hogwarts house he’d be sorted into. Graham has been in love with her ever since.

But now they’re sixteen, still neighbors, still best friends. And Graham and Roxy share more than ever—moving on from their Harry Potter obsession to a serious love of comic books.

When Graham learns that the creator of their favorite comic, The Chronicles of Althena, is making a rare appearance at this year’s New York Comic Con, he knows he must score tickets. And the event inspires Graham to come up with the perfect plan to tell Roxy how he really feels about her. He’s got three days to woo his best friend at the coolest, kookiest con full of superheroes and supervillains. But no one at a comic book convention is who they appear to be...even Roxy. And Graham is starting to realize fictional love stories are way less complicated than real-life ones.
why am I waiting?
You know, I once told myself that I would go to Comic Con. Two years later, I haven't even tried to get tickets (cause staying up late in the middle of the night to click a button is kind of ---). This book brings out my inner geekness and I can't help but welcome it into the game. I'm watching you and as soon as your published, I'm gonna get you! They mention Harry Potter, Comic Con, and Comic books in one synopsis! And mix in a cute adorable love story (that may or may not be a little sad, don't judge a book on it's fluffy synopsis ;) + Love the cover.
