Series: RoseBlood
Genre: YA, Retellings, Fantasy

In this modern day spinoff of Leroux’s gothic tale of unrequited love turned to madness, seventeen-year-old Rune Germain has a mysterious affliction linked to her operatic talent, and a horrifying mistake she’s trying to hide. Hoping creative direction will help her, Rune’s mother sends her to a French arts conservatory for her senior year, located in an opera house rumored to have ties to The Phantom of the Opera.

At RoseBlood, Rune secretly befriends the masked Thorn—an elusive violinist who not only guides her musical transformation through dreams that seem more real than reality itself, but somehow knows who she is behind her own masks. As the two discover an otherworldly connection and a soul-deep romance blossoms, Thorn’s dark agenda comes to light and he’s forced to make a deadly choice: lead Rune to her destruction, or face the wrath of the phantom who has haunted the opera house for a century, and is the only father he’s ever known.

A. G. Howard brings the romantic storytelling that Splintered fans adore to France—and an entirely new world filled with lavish romance and intrigue—in a retelling inspired by a story that has captivated generations. Fans of both the Phantom of the Opera musical and novel, as well as YA retellings such as Marissa Meyer’s Cinder, will devour RoseBlood.

This genre isn't usually the genre that I usually read, but after I read the synopsis I thought it was really interesting and that I should try something new for once. What caught my eye was the cover of the book and the synopsis where it said The Phantom of the Opera. I look forward to reading this book and to see if I enjoy a new genre of books.

*I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review

"His words, laced with a Spanish accent, fell pleasantly against her ears." (quote)

First of all, I was very excited to read this book!

I love the book cover! I have a tendency to always applaud the author and the artist for their amazing accomplishments on the book covers because I just find them amazing! It always interests me how creative artists are to create such a beautiful book cover because I honestly think that it's just as hard to create a book cover as it is to write a book. Okay okay before you guys say WHAT DID SHE REALLY SAY THAT? know that book covers have to connect to the book in some way for it to work and I honestly feel that that is hard to accomplish. But my point is that this book cover is honestly one of the best ones that I've seen since it looks to me like watercolor and the forest really goes along with book as it does in this book cover.

I had so many emotions while reading this book, such as excitement, thrill, and eagerness, I thought that this book was very interesting and I don't find many books interesting which gives it a big thumbs up! Also the fact on how well thought out this book was, was amazing, I absolutely loved the book.
