An unforgettable new series from acclaimed author Katie McGarry about taking risks, opening your heart and ending up in a place you never imagined possible.

Seventeen-year-old Emily likes her life the way it is: doting parents, good friends, good school in a safe neighborhood. Sure, she's curious about her biological father—the one who chose life in a motorcycle club, the Reign of Terror, over being a parent—but that doesn't mean she wants to be a part of his world. But when a reluctant visit turns to an extended summer vacation among relatives she never knew she had, one thing becomes clear: nothing is what it seems. Not the club, not her secret-keeping father and not Oz, a guy with suck-me-in blue eyes who can help her understand them both.

Oz wants one thing: to join the Reign of Terror. They're the good guys. They protect people. They're…family. And while Emily—the gorgeous and sheltered daughter of the club's most respected member—is in town, he's gonna prove it to her. So when her father asks him to keep her safe from a rival club with a score to settle, Oz knows it's his shot at his dream. What he doesn't count on is that Emily just might turn that dream upside down.

No one wants them to be together. But sometimes the right person is the one you least expect, and the road you fear the most is the one that leads you home.
Can I just say, AHHHHH I LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH PLEASE MARRY ME!? I WILL NOT TAKE NOW FOR AN ANSWER! I will never get this book out of my system. Katie McGarry is one of my favorite authors and I will forever love the books that she has brought into this world *bows down*.

Once again, I applaud Katie McGarry for this masterpiece. She has created some very lovable characters that come with an unforgettable set of stories. Most importantly, I was NOT for one second confused about anything that was happening in the book (as this seems to happen sometimes) and it was not predictable in any sort of way.

The plot was unique, the story was RAD (yes, I used the word "rad"), the characters were everything I would love to meet in real life. There was never a second where I felt bored. This book got be completely hooked and reeled in. I was very much in love with Em's character.

“Running is still running. It doesn't matter if it's a physical move from one place to another or if it's to within yourself.” - Katie McGarry, No-Where But Here

Em and Oz were adorable. The heart pulsing, skin sizzling, feel enduring type of adorable.  I couldn't get enough of them and I was a bit saddened when I was getting to the end of the book (but most definitely not the end of their story). Their love was powerful, endearing, and everything I wanted to read. I didn't know what I was missing out on until I picked this book up.

“I put my fingers under Emily's chin, tilting her head up.

I think that once reason I really loved this book was because I had nothing against either Oz or Em. Their personalities didn't clash with me and I didn't feel any type of annoyance toward either or them. Even though I didn't go through anything that the both of them have gone through I found it very easy to connect with them and see their world through their eyes.

All in all, YES, I highly recommend this book as I will never get it fully out of my system and I will forever miss all the characters in this book that have caused me to feel every possible emotion that can be felt.

“Girls don't go for guys who do magic. If a guy relies on sad shit like that it means he's got no game.”

- Katie McGarry, No-Where But Here

I can't wait until the sequel Walk the Edge (Thunder Road #2) on March 29, 2016!

Review: The Copper Gauntlet (#2) by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare

Callum Hunt’s summer break isn’t like other kids’. His closest companion is a Chaos-ridden wolf, Havoc. His father suspects him of being secretly evil. And, of course, most kids aren’t heading back to the magical world of the Magisterium in the fall.

It’s not easy for Call . . . and it gets even harder after he checks out his basement and discovers that his dad might be trying to destroy both him and Havoc.

Call escapes to the Magisterium -- but things only intensify there. The Alkahest -- a copper gauntlet capable of separating certain magicians from their magic -- has been stolen. And in their search to discover the culprit, Call and his friends Aaron and Tamara awaken the attention of some very dangerous foes -- and get closer to an even more dangerous truth.

As the mysteries of the Magisterium deepen and widen, bestselling authors Holly Black and Cassandra Clare take readers on an extraordinary journey through one boy’s conflict -- and a whole world’s fate.
Much like The Iron Trial, review right here, I couldn't really decipher whether or not I was feeling absolute love and joy for this book, or absolute adoration for this series. I couldn't get over the fact that I love Call (Callum) so much that it hurts. I love that he has this secret identity that he has to hide and I love who he is and his background.

"Don't kill her! Only maim her a little!" - Holly Black & Cassandra Clare, The Copper Gauntlet

In the Copper Gauntlet we go through this story about how the Alkahest has been stolen and Call and his friends + Jasper, escape the Magisterium in order to find it before the wrong side discovers it first. Throughout the story, Tamara was getting on my nerves. Yes, I understand where she is coming from. Yes, I know that she thought she was doing the right thing, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it or agree with her.

I wanted to cover how much I thoroughly love the storyline and every single detail that was put into it to create this elaborate story that is all through unique and unexpected. I was happy, I was smiling, I was just overjoyed, because this book was a mix of my imagination. Not only did I feel like it was a dream come true to read about, but it made me day dream about other scenarios and other options and events that could take place next.

I guess it's safe to say that The Copper Gauntlet was even epicer (is that a word?) than The Iron Trial. (which I LOVED VERY MUCH!).

"I don't know," Call said. He was starting to worry that there weren't any good guys. Just people with longer or shorter Evil Overlord lists." - Holly Black & Cassandra Clare, The Copper Gauntlet

I'm definitely going to be sticking with this series through and through! Definitely a book that has to be read!

Doodle Review: Three Emotions While Reading The Selection by Kiera Cass

[ It's Al Here!]

title: The Selection (#1)
author: Kiera Cass
genre: Romance | Science Fiction
pages:
publisher: Harper Teens

more: Goodreads

For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

Interest. I was really eager to find out what was going to happen next! I loved the Selection because it made me want more after reading the first book. I was interested to find out what was going to happen next because so many things happened in one book and it was so interesting when something happened (I like the drama in books and romance). I usually don't find a lot of books so interesting that makes me wanting more but this book really caught my eye.

Love.  I absolutely loved most of the characters because they had such unique and fun personalities that made me feel that these things were actually happening in real life. I especially liked America because she isn't really scared of anything and I loved how she is so brave which is great characteristic. I loved the plot as well because it's a great love story and it's so fun and interesting as well.

Angry. At some parts in the book it was just so irritating because some of the characters were a pain in the butt. They were so rude, obnoxious, crazy, and a bunch of other things I can't describe. As much as I loved America and some other characters some of the characters were actually really annoying and rude (Celeste). All in all it was a great book except for some annoying characters, but the plot was beautifully written.

Review: Neverland by Shari Arnold

Friday, October 09, 2015

title: Neverland
author: Shari Arnold
publisher: CreateSpace
genre: Young Adult | Romance | Retellings | Contemporary, Issue: Peter Pan Retelling | Romance

It’s been four months since seventeen-year-old Livy Cloud lost her younger sister, but she isn’t quite ready to move on with her life — not even close. She’d rather spend her time at the Seattle Children’s hospital, reading to the patients and holding onto memories of the sister who was everything to her and more.

But when she meets the mysterious and illusive Meyer she is drawn into a world of adventure, a world where questions abound.

Is she ready to live life without her sister? Or more importantly, is she brave enough to love again?

In this modern reimagining of Peter Pan, will Livy lose herself to Neverland or will she find what she’s been searching for?

*Provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Years ago, I would wonder what I was thinking when I thought about Peter Pan and Neverland. Now, I guess I can't express how much I love the classic tale. Neverland was one perfect retelling that kept my attention and made me re-live some memorable moments while building some new ones along the way.

When Livy loses her younger sister, she is sad and lost in her mourning. When reading to a group of patients (the classic tale of Neverland), she encounters a boy of whom she then learns to know of as Meyer. Turns out, there's more to the story then what she can see-and maybe more than she might believe in. Thrown into a momentary life of adventure, romance, and possibility, Livy must then make the most important decision of her life.

I love how Shari incorporated the original story of Peter Pan and Neverland into this story. It was very creative and very different.

Livy. She cares. I think that her spirit and her love for her sister just happen to be some of the best characteristics about her. When she loves too much, there's nothing holding her back, accept for maybe herself and the things that she has to give up to follow what she thinks is the right thing to do.

Meyer. Not your classic Peter Pan, boy who never wants to grow up. Thing is, Meyer is grown up. He's mysterious, slightly annoying and aggravating (but then again, when are they not?), but cute and giddy inducing.

Together. I died. Yes, I have officially been murdered by unstoppable feels and uncontrollable happiness. Why must they be so cute and so engaging at the same time?

I really loved reading about their romance. Que the giggles. I was about dancing on the inside and loving every single second of it (okay, maybe not every second). I wanted more and I wanted more of the more. This was one of those times when I wish their romance could have a sequel so I can continue my life while internally screaming and dancing around (I think I've said too much).

My love for Neverland and Peter Pan will never die as will my love for this book.

background on reading this
Honestly, I started reading this on a plane to Hawaii. The wifi wasn't working and my life had basically ended (no wifi, no life right?) and I couldn't read from a book, because then I would get motion sickness and regret ever making that decision. So I read from my phone, on kindle. For some reason, I can read from my phone and not from a book during major motion (cars, planes, etc.).

This wasn't relevant, but I really wanted to share that :D
